I have been playing Electronic drums since 1981. One of the things that I started doing almost from the very beginning was to re-assign sounds to pads where those sounds did not belong. Here I will show you some versatility that electronics have.
This is my favorite Funk beat of all time. I had floundered over getting this beat correct until I finally met with the master of this beat face to face. The story goes that John Blackwell used his rendition of this beat to seal the deal during an audition with Prince and then performed on the Musicology tour with him. Check for John Blackwell at www.drummerworld.com BzB :-)
In response to e-mails and comments I am showing everyone how it is possible to play complicated songs with multiple drums tracks Live, without any sequences. Like the rest of my videos I already know this one is not perfect...Just helping those with inquiring minds...to solve the riddle of "Oh Sheila"
A video montage made from pictures and videos that were taken by students in my classroom all year long. The video covers class events from the very first days of the 2007/2008 School year all the way up to just a few days before school let out.
Ok..Here I am playing my acustic kit after it has been put up for over 5 months. I am a bit rusty playing on regular drums. There are several clips put together here.
BzB :-)
These are clips from the show at Gators Cafe on January 19th, 2007 with the Big Brother Band. I am playing "Life in the Fast Lane" and "Pride and Joy." I have to appologize in advance. I had no helper so there is only one angle on the vid. I wish I could have had more to show you.
This is just what I do in the house during my afternoon workout practice sessions. These are simply jam sessions where I work out new beats and ideas. These are not perfect by any means...just development in progress. Most of the mistakes have been purposely left in so you can see the development process.
A continuation of a solo jam session in my livingroom on 10/26/06. This is my nightly ritual for beat, rhythm and sticking development. It is not perfect. The mistakes are left in to show you the process of development.
This The opening song at a gig I did with a band called "SunBurn." The club is the legendary Daquiri Deck on Madeira Beach Florida. The song is "Low" by Cracker.
Every studio drummer must be able to play beats from every musical genre with creative and inventive flavor. This is a jam to a Latin groove with a Bazy twist. BzB :-)
Here I show off some of my latest toys and my little studio room...Then I jam for a bit with a sequence I created on my new Korg Triton Keyboard. Pretty Cool!!! BzB
Continuing on with more beat development from 10/26/06 session in the livingroom. There are a total of 5 of these workouts, all cut from one 50 minute jam session where I am working on beats and sticking. I left in all the scew ups and changes. Watch as I develop some new ideas and techniques
So here is the rest of the night time session. Not much here...Just workin on a couple of beats...but thought I would invite you all in for a bit...Hope it is enjoyable!!!
Many drummers are asking if they should buy electronic drums while they are still learning drums. Abdo posted a vid response to ask a particular question on this topic and it was time to go on the record. BzB :-)
I took over the drumline at the school where I teach this year and I have a great bunch of kids to work with. I am so proud of them that I wanted to include them here on my YouTube. I hope everyone enjoys their performance.
Just answering some questions that I get frequently in my comments and e-mail. Keep them coming...and stay watching the channel for more vids to come soon.
