Dan Rather Reports on HDnet did a story on civilian contractors working in Iraq. The report was 23 minuets and to big to post here in one file... so here is the first of 3 parts.
CBS came to the Civilian Contractor gathering in July 2006. This is the report that they filmed of the problams that some contractor have after they return home.
The last ambush I went through in Aug 2004, my driver was shot in the knee. This video was taken the next day as he and others look at our shot up truck.
After spending the better part of 3 years in Iraq as a civilian contractor truck driver, being shot at and blown up, I have learned taht each day should be lived to the fullest. This video shows where I have been, what I ahve seen adn those I met while in Iraq. My life is richer for knowing them.
This was shot as we were driving on a road, if ya can call it that, in Iraq. It gives you an idea of what a convoy looks like at night and how rough the roads can be.
We were rolling towards the gate to leave when we heard over our radios that a convoy was being ambushed on its way in. We sat at the gate for a while. This is the video I took as we sat there adn then after we rolled out.
This was not a good day. Delays at the gate, truck problems, and then lost in Baghdad trying to find stay on the 'new' route we were to take through town. ARGH!! At least everyone made it through without injury, course, we did leave a truck burning on Sword!
This was give to me by a friend. The first part you need to listen more than watch. But be sure to watch and you will see the glass fly when his windshield is shot. In the second part you get to see the damage and a driver he had to pick up.
