This is video made in 2001 using the output of the local camera on a Sony Aibo robot dog, while playing RoboCup soccer. It's trying to score with the orange ball in the yellow goal, but it is a difficult problem with only local information.
Here is some testing of the kicker we made for our 2006 robot, done in Fall 2005 (before the 2006 robot was designed). After testing the speed, we decided to have some fun and kick it at various objects. The kickers are solenoids which are supplied by large capacitors charged to 200 volts.
